Wanna have two Excel files beside each other and you can't get it done !!! Well remember you are using Microsoft products, so don't be surprised that they don't manage normally to let you have two windows beside each other. Well but there is a hard way to do this :

Open the first workbook any way you want.
Start a second instance of excel. either double click on shortcut to excel.exe on your desktop or through windows start button | run, then type: excel and hit enter. Then file|open the second workbook.
Now files are separated and you can have them beside each other ... Siiiiiigggggghhhhhhh :-S

As it sounds very easy, but if you are visiting this page, you know it is not that easy as it sounds ;-) Usually in such cases Shift+Enter is the right combination, but strangely Microsoft use that for another operation in Excel and instead uses Alt + Enter. Hold Alt key down and press enter.

The following procedure is valid only for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. You can determine which version you are using by opening Outlook and clicking on Help > About Microsoft Outlook.

The Personal Folder file (.pst / PST) is the place where Outlook stores its data (when you're using Outlook without Microsoft® Exchange Server). Each Personal Folder file contains all of your Outlook folders, including the Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts. You may have a single .pst file (usually called "Internet Folders" or "Personal Folders" in your Folder List), and you may also have an additional .pst file that you use to archive messages (named "Archive Folders"). By backing up these PST files you will be backing up all your Outlook information.

In previous versions of Outlook, it was difficult to locate the folder containing the personal folder files. Developers have made this task much easier in Outlook 2007.

There are two ways to access the location of your data files. In the main menu, you can either click File > Data File Management... or Tools > Account Settings...

If not already selected, click on the "Data Files" tab. You may have a single data file or multiple data files. These "Data Files" are where you store your email messages, calendar, tasks and other items.

Highlight the data file that you are interested in backing up and click on the "Open Folder..." icon. Clicking on this icon will automatically launch Windows Explorer and take you to the location where this data file is stored.

Within the folder you should find an outlook.pst file . Burn this file to a CDROM disk or other backup source. If you archive your email, be sure to backup the archive.pst file as well. Prior to backing up these files, Outlook will need to be closed.

Ignite Oslo, Rapid Prototyping

On Thursday I hold one of the most difficult presentations of my life. I was representing Robotica Osloensis, a student community which I am deputy chairman of, at Ignite Oslo. I talked about Rapid Prototyping which we use as our main method at Robotica in our projects. Ignite is a style of presentation where participants are given five minutes to speak on a subject accompanied by 20 slides. Each slide is displayed for 15 seconds, and slides are automatically advanced. The Ignite format is similar to Pecha Kucha, which features 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each.

The Ignite Oslo was a very nice event. They had 5 minutes presentations about different topics(list over topics) which were very interesting. Presentations about art, film making, music composition with applications on iPad, 3D printing, air balloons and fashion, etc. It was pretty stressful when it came to my turn. The whole idea of 15 seconds intervals and having a lot to say about a subject that actually belongs to the nerd world made me very nervous. Thanks to my friends Magnus Lange and Ole Jacob, who helped me both about the content and preparing in advance for the presentation, I was well prepared. If like me you would also like to change the location of your Desktop folder(security reasons or willing to share the same Desktop on all of your computers), keep reading.

The solution is pretty simple :-) Simply go to following path :

With PHP you have the power to upload files to the server.

By using the global PHP $_FILES array you can upload files from a client computer to the remote server.

The first parameter is the form's input name and the second index can be either "name", "type", "size", "tmp_name" or "error". Like this:

$_FILES["file"]["size"] - the size in bytes of the uploaded file

This is a very simple way of uploading files. You better add restrictions on what the user is allowed to upload to your sever. Down here you can also see a code which saves the uploaded file to a physical place on server. If you do not save the file, the temporary file will be deleted after the script ends. It also checks if the file already exist.

The AVG 8.5 seems to have problem. Either update to AVG 9.0 or 2011 free versions (this error is mainly being observed in AVG 8.5) OR revert back virus definition of Avg to previous state.
Revert update to previous version :

and use the Manage to revert ! After that try installing it !

It lets you add different weblogs(from Wordpress, blogger, etc) and update them with couple of clicks. There are other solutions that can publish one post(exactly the same thing) on several weblogs, but they lack some WYSIWYG feature or they simply do not work with some of your weblogs(Wordpress in my case). You want to redirect pages in your wordpress to an external link ? Now there is a plugin which let you do it :-) The good thing about this ability is that you can re-direct the menu items in your website to external links which was something that Wordpress always lacked.

The plugin name is "Page Liks To". You can download it from here, or simply search the name from your Wordpress control panel. The instruction is as follows :

Upload the page-links-to folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory
Activate the “Page Links To” plugin in your WordPress administration interface
Create (or edit) a page or a post to have a title of your choosing (leave the content blank)
Down below, in the advanced section, find the Page Links To widget and add a URL of your choosing
Optionally check the boxes to enable link opening in a new browser window, or 302 Moved Temporarily redirects
Save the post or page

Done! Now that post or page will point to the URL that you choose

You want to upgradet to latest Ubuntu version(10.10) and you don't get it in your update menu(upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10), then you need to read the following :

Network Upgrade for Ubuntu Desktops (Recommended) :

System -> Administration menu->Software Sources application
Open Updates from the Software Sources application window
Change the Release Upgrade drop down to "Normal Releases" and close the application
Press Alt-F2 and type update-manager
Click the Check button to check for new updates.
If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them, and press Check again after that is complete.
A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release.Click Upgrade.Follow the on-screen instructions.

Nope, you are not blind. They managed to hide it on the 3rd page of your keyboard !!! Press the "?123"(12# in some keyboards) Symbol on the bottom Left(right in some local keyboards). Yield, Generators & Iterables, non separable concepts in Python

Iterables

To understand what yield does, you must understand what generators are. And before generators come iterables. When you create a list, you can read its items one by one, and it's called iteration :

Mylist is an iterable. When you use a comprehension list, you create a list, and so an iterable :

Everything you can use "for... in..." on is an iterable : lists, strings, files... These iterables are handy because you can read them as much as you wish, but you store all the values in memory and it's not always what you want when you have a lot of values.

Generators

Generators are iterables, but you can only read them once. It's because they do not store all the values in memory, they generate the values on the fly :

It just the same except you used () instead of []. BUT, you can not perform for i in mygenerator a second time since generators can only be used once: they calculate 0, then forget about it and calculate 1 and ends calculating 4, one by one.

Yield

Yield is a keyword that is used like return, except the function will return a generator.

...    for i in mylist :

Here it's a useless example, but it's handy when you know your function will return a huge set of values that you will only need to read once.

To master yield, you must understand that when you call the function, the code you have written in the function body does not run. The function only returns the generator object, this is bit tricky :-)

One of the differences between jagged arrays and a multi-dimension array is that a multi-dimension array will allocate memory for every element of each dimension, whereas a jagged array will only allocate memory for the size of each array in each dimension that you define. How to get Dell Photo 964 to work on Windows 7 64 bit

The R146813(click on the link to download)driver works on Windows 7 64 bit enterprise(Tested by me). Follow the following steps exactly, or it will not work. This is how I got the AIO 964 printer to work in Windows 7 from start to finish.

1. Open device manager and uninstall the printer making sure to tick the "Delete the driver software for the device" box.
2. Unplug the USB cord for the printer.
3. If you have previously tried installing the dell drivers using the setup.exe make sure to uninstall the printer drivers and supporting application. if not disregard this step.
4. Run the clean up patch (R166225.zip)
5. Reboot
6. Right click on the installer and go to the "Compatibility" tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode" and choose "Windows Vista" Finally check the "Run as Administrator" option. Click Apply and OK.

7. Install the R146813 drivers plugging in the printer when prompter by the installer.

Your 964 will be working on your Windows 7 64 bit :-)

My tips about browsers for Linux, is Google Chrome. I love Firefox myself, but Chrome for Linux is perfect. While Firefox is pretty slow under Linux, Chrome is a fast reliable tools for your everyday surfing. The web browser Chrome, developed by Google, has finally been released as an official stable release for Linux. Google Chrome 5.0 for Linux is described by the developers as solid, high performance, and fully-featured.
Highlights of the latest version include HTML 5 functionality, such as geolocation programming interfaces, application caching, and drag-and-drop capability. Using Google accounts, you can now copy browser preferences to other machines, so you don't have to manually customize your Chrome browser on every computer you are using.

How is Chrome different from other browsers? The first item would be speed. Like the Google search engine, Chrome has been designed for speed. This shows for example in the start-up time, which is several times shorter than that of Firefox.

Another interesting feature is the "incognito" mode, which allows you to surf the Internet without the browser tracking where you are going or what you are doing. That is, it won't save your browsing history.

Changing your Desktop on your local linux computer to another directory

The default location of your Desktop folder is ~/Desktop. You might want to have it pointing to another location(online home directory forexample). Run the terminal and run the follwoing command :

gedit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs

Find : XDG_DESKTOP_DIR. Change it to the right path that you like:

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
change it to :
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Test/NewDesktop"

After changing it to the right address, again run the follwoing command in the terminal :
killall nautilus
OR simply log off and log in again.

You can easily become the operator of your own IRC channel. You can create your own channel by typing /join #channel-name where the channel name doesn't already exist on that network, as in:

Black box testing

takes an external perspective of the test object to derive test cases. These tests can be functional or non-functional, though usually functional. The test designer selects valid and invalid input and determines the correct output. There is no knowledge of the test object's internal structure.

White box testing

uses an internal perspective of the system to design test cases based on internal structure. It requires programming skills to identify all paths through the software. Ubuntu comes in with an integrated Sticky Notes. You just need to right click the top or bottom bar and pick add to panel and add the sticky notes icon will be where you want it.

After it you need to right click on the icon to make new and you can stick them to the screen. The cool thing about it is that you can go into the prefrences and ask the sticky notes to leave the notes on whichever desktop(Linux can have several desktops) that you created it(my case I have one for coding, one for surfing and one for my robotics stuffs).

Teamviewer, for Linux

Teamviewer can be run under Linux as well. This is not supported by Teamviewer, but there are ways around it. I have been using Teamviewer now for a while to administrate my/my friends computers and the result is just perfect. The program does not need any configuration at all and can be installed and used easily. More than all it is FREE of charge for non commercial use and as it doesn't need any setup or any other configuration, it is much better than the MS RDP(Remote Desktop Protocol, Microsoft).

The program is supported under MS Windows and Mac OSX, but there are ways around it to use it at Linux. The trick is to use a program called Wine which lets one to use applications developed for MS Windows under semi Unix operating systems(Linux). I have tested Teamviewer 5.0 with Wine 1.0.1 and the result is that things work one way. You can connect/administrate/send and receive files from your Linux machine to the target computer but not vice versa. I have tried from Ubuntu 9.10 Linux to MS Windows XP and Win 7.

*My comment : The real benefit in Teamviewer is that you can use it overall. You don't need any configuration, port forwarding or anything at all. You even do not need a static IP. You just need to install Teamviewer on both sides and you are done. You can make secure sessions sending, receiving files and controlling/fixing the target computer.
